Welcome to Illeone - About Us ...

On the snow covered slopes of the Dolomites, Italy in early February 2001 we were discussing how to combine “quality and pricing”... An argument that could last many a glass of wine.

Having worked together for a number of years in London we decided to cut all strings and start a small company in relation to the above quote.

2 meetings and 8 months down the line – Osteria del Leone was bought; there was no turning back!

Our aim…. A balance between quality and pricing in the food and wine industry.

To provide quality on the table from bottled water, to food and wine in our restaurant Osteria del Leone; Arte della Tavola in our Il Leone shops and allow our clients to purchase through Il Leone on-line our products and have them posted home; or to spend a relaxing and memorable holiday in our 800 year old ex monastery, Sant' Antonio Country Resort in Montepulciano – Tuscany.

A number of our products, for example, pepper mills, knives, glasses, china, etc, have been tried and tested in our different establishments, and we are therefore confident that they are practical and durable. In our industry, unfortunately a number of times we are sold items that cost , look useful, however end up in the bin when placed into action. Part of our objective is to try and prevent this.

Andrea Bazzani – Born in Tuscany, has worked and run several Tuscan kitchens in Italy and Spain; Head Chef of Osteria del Leone

Nico Pannevis – Born in Kenya into a family of coffee producers and hoteliers; Italian mother and Dutch father, educated and trained in hotel business & business management – Financial Administrator of Gestioni Il Leone SAS and Illeone.com
